2M Net Suggested Operating Procedures


Items to be verbalized are in italics.
  • Have paper and pen ready for copying stations and traffic.
    Some suggested shorthand: NT= No Traffic, ST= Short Time, RC= Re-check
  • Remove PTT Time Limit on NCS rig.
  • Check if the CTCSS Tone may be disabled.
    See Tom (n0ss) for repeater control codes.
  • Call the Net to order with the following call-up:

    Calling the Mid-MO Amateur Radio Club 2-Meter Net,
    Calling the Mid-MO Amateur Radio Club 2-Meter Net,
    this is ___________________ net control.

  • Broadcast the Net schedule:

    This net meets every Wednesday night at 8 PM Local Time on the Jefferson City Repeater.

    ALL stations are welcome and encouraged to check into this net.
    You do not have to be a member of the Mid-MO Amateur Radio Club to join us.

    The repeater is transmitting on 147 Megahertz with a negative offset.
    A morse code P is transmitted for the courtesy beep when the 127.3 PL Tone is actived.

  • Call for stations with EMERGENCY or PRIORITY traffic.
    If any check in, have them pass their traffic immediately.
    If no emergency or priority traffic is listed, continue.

    Stations with EMERGENCY or PRIORITY traffic call now.

  • Announce the date, time and location of the next MMARC meeting.

    MMARC meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7PM.
    The meetings are held at the Central United Church of Christ,
    118 W. Ashley St. (corner of W. Ashley and Washington Streets).

    VE exams are available following each meeting.

    If you wish to take a VE exam, please contact either

  • Call for stations with formal NTS traffic

    Stations with formal NTS traffic please call now with your name and call sign.

    See if there are any stations that can handle the traffic, and/or list it during the net.

  • Call for short time and mobile check-ins, then portables.

    Short time and mobile stations please call now with your name and call sign,
    and please listen before you call to help avoid doubles.

  • Acknowledge check-ins (if any) in the order in which they checked in and
    then ask each one in turn for his/her comments.
  • Repeat Call/acknowledge/comments until there are no more stations calling.

  • Call for stations with traffic or comments directed to any of the short-timers.

    If you have traffic for a short time station, please call now.

  • Acknowledge stations (if any) and have them pass traffic on the net frequency.
  • Repeat until there are no more stations holding traffic for short timers.
  • Release the short time stations.

    Short time stations, thank you for checking in. You may now secure your station from the net.

  • Announce Breakfast

    You may choose to announce this later in the net. For example during a lull in check-in's.

    The club also meets each Saturday morning at 8am for breakfast
    in the basement meeting room at Mel's Country Cafe - 2421 Industrial Drive.
    Come by and enjoy some great food and good fellowship with us!

    Talk-in for both the meeting and breakfast at Mel's is on this repeater.

  • Call for check-ins.

    Any station wishing to check in please call now with your name and call sign,
    and please listen before you call to help avoid doubles.

  • Acknowledge stations in the order in which they checked in.
  • Call each station in the order he/she checked in and ask for their comments.
  • Repeat Call/acknowledge/comments until there are no more stations calling.

  • Call for re-check

    Any station wishing to re-check in please call now with your name and call sign,
    and please listen before you call to help avoid doubles.

  • Acknowledge stations in the order in which they call.
  • Call each station in the order they checked in and ask for their comments.
  • Repeat Call/acknowledge/comments until there are no more stations calling.

  • At this time you might want to interject any notable happenings in the ham world.

  • Remind Stations of the 2 Meter MCW net.

    You are encouraged to check in to the Mid-MO 2M MCW NET on 146.865 Mhz,
    negative offset, PL 127.3.
    tonight at 8:30PM (or immediately following this net if it runs past 8:30PM.)
    The primary intent of this CW net is to increase code proficiency.
    Stations often coordinate on this repeater.

  • Make a final call for late check-ins or re-checks.
