Last week I estimated 20 for posting the results to the web. The actual value was 14 minutes. I took less time because I had established the method for creating the online journal document.
This week it is interesting to note that the video time was 92 minutes, time spent working on the SRS was 315 minutes and
team time was 298 minutes. SRS and team time were both approximately 3 times classroom time. I am fairly certain that the team time can be reduced.
I invested 11% of this weeks time in the development of an executable prototype for the SRS. I feel that this was a worthwhile investment of time. If you look at the overall time invested in the creation of the SRS and consider the relatively smaller amount of time invested in a low-fidelity prototype I believe you will find it has a good return on investment. In my experience, users will gravitate towards something they can interact with as opposed to something they must conceptualize.
This is the first week where I annotated an item with productivity = 0. I was resolving a technology problem which meant no progress was being made in coursework. This would be an example of an overhead process.
This week is also the first instance of time overlap in my journal. I had tasks running on one computer while working on another computer.
Journal Chart time and Journal Observations time are really intertwined with each other. As the chart is being built you notice things that you want to include in the observations. I found it beneficial early on to separate these two items. Now with a bit of process maturation, I'm wondering if they should be brought back together.
This week I was better about working on the class materials every day.
Thinking about the coming week. I think as a team we will need to be more precise about breaking up the project work load and time boxing the work. While meetings were productive, with out an established agenda they seemed an expensive use of time.
I should have recorded the number of screens completed in each session working on the prototype. For the future, I need to consider metrics for when doing things like writing a paper or creating a prototype. Could have potentially documented time to create MDI parent and the time needed for each of the forms along with the number of controls on them and their complexity.
